Year 6 Blog-Friday 10th October
Date: 7th Oct 2025 @ 3:43pm
Dear Parents,
Thank you for supporting the Wear It Blue campaign.
As part of our homework this week, we thought it would be beneficial for the children to focus on who they can turn to for help if they need support.
Talk to someone you can trust, such as your parents or carers, a grandparent, a teacher, a teaching assistant, or another known and trusted adult.
Please see the Colour Your Feelings activity in the files to download section. Choose one of the sheets and once completed, perhaps you would like to chat to a trusted adult about your activity.
Challenge
The challenge will return next week. Please use your free time to focus on the Colour Your Feelings activity (as outlined above).
This week in English, we have watched the beautiful animation, 'The Piano' by Aidan Gibbons. We have used inference to delve into the mind of the man portrayed. We have used this to create wonderful flash-back stories of the man's life.
This week in maths, we have continued to investigate the properties of number. This has included using our divisibility rules to find all the prime numbers to 100. We have also practised 'order of operations' (BIDMAS/was BODMAS). We have finished the week with short multiplication practise, which is an excellent basis to re-cap long multiplication methods.
This week we investigated the Holy Land as a site of pilgrimage for Christians, Jews and Muslims. We completed our Life as Journey booklets, responding to our Big Questions for the unit.
PE
In PE, we completed our dances to 'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside' and performed them to one another. They were all excellent and demonstrated superb teamwork.
