Year 6 Blog-Friday 17th October
Date: 7th Oct 2025 @ 3:43pm
Dear Parents,
Homework
Please complete the next task in your CGP book.
Please see below for the next set of spellings (we haven't completed a test this week, but we have practised our spellings). The next test will be on Thursday.

This week, we read the short story 'Clock Close', which is a flash-back narrative about a boy who travels into the past. Because we are so confident with flashback stories now, we decided to create our own. We have tales of World War 1, Ancient Greece, The Great Fire of London and even travelling back to the 90s! The children have told their stories before writing them.

This week we have ensured our times table knowledge is excellent and used this to learn the formal written method of long multiplication. The children have worked hard on this method and we have plenty of time to master it!

The children finished their unit 'Life as journey' by completing booklet and answering some of our 'Big Questions.' They have considered the similarities of pilgrimage across different faiths and the significance of Holy Land. The children have given thoughtful responses which include confidently describing what they feel the difference between a pilgrimage and a holiday is.
History
In History we have looked at the role of rationing during World War 2. We learnt about why rationing was a key part of Britain's war effort and also made predictions about the order of rationing. It was interesting to learn about how long rationing lasted for.
