Year 6 Blog-Friday 11th July
Date: 11th Jul 2025 @ 12:15pm
Dear Parents,
Leavers' Service and Disco
Thank you for coming to celebrate our Leavers' service in church. The children read, sang and danced beautifully and we hope you and they will remember it for a long time. Thank you for sending in all of the reception/early pictures; they loved watching these from the back of church! I have added the powerpoint to this blog also. Following this was the wonderful movie themed disco! Thank you again to all the volunteers for setting this up and supporting it during the night. The children really enjoyed themselves.
Next week....
Looking ahead to next week, there are two key dates to remember:
Tuesday: Staff Vs Year 6 rounders match followed by a pizza party in class
Thursday: Year 6 Leavers' lunch in the school hall
Our learning this week in Year 6
RE
We celebrated and prayed throughout our Leavers' service and the song the children chose-Your way's better-conveys a wonderful message as our Year 6 children are preparing to move onto secondary school. It is a clear message of hope and knowing that God will love and support you on your journey. We hope the children remember this.
English
Year 6 have been writing their own versions of Darwin's Dragons, which will be their final piece of writing. They are working hard to make it a good one!
Science
We enjoyed retrieving our prior knowledge of electricity in science. We then built our own circuits, which the class really enjoyed.
PE
In PE, we filmed our final interpretative dances based upon the poem, 'The Highwayman'. Each group produced a very different dance, which demsonstrates all the different ways we can use our bodies to tell a story. The final performances were great to watch!
