Dear Parents,

Homework-there is no homework over Christmas except to keep reading and have a lovely rest!

We finished reading Tom's Midnight Garden, the graphic novel.  We have had lots of wonderful discussion about this book and how to create a time-slip story.

This week in maths, we have focused upon improving our arithmetic skills.  This has involved mixed arithmetic practise on LBQ as well as re-capping some key skills.  I have given the class aspirational targets for their arithmetic scores in May and I am sure they will reach them!  Keep practising the basics (multiplication and division facts and number bonds).

It has been lovely to have such wonderfully insightful discussions with the class over the entire Autumn term.  They are thoughtful and philosophical, while having an understanding of how important scripture is in understanding the ways in which Christians live their lives.  Reading the works in their books has been a wonderful reflection of this.

DT bomb shelter project

Wow!  What a success this project has been this year.  The children have applied their DT skills very well this week by turning their 2D nets into models.  This has required following their own 2D aerial view plans, putting in 'an order' for printed nets and turning these into pieces of furniture.

And finally....

Thank you to Year 6 for giving me the most wonderful farewell worship, which made me feel incredibly special.  I will treasure my Year 6 Leavers' signed t-shirt and the other special gifts I have been given.

I would like to say thank you to the wonderful children in Year 6 (and our entire school).  What a delight you have been to teach.  Leaving wasn't an easy decision and I will take with me fantastic memories.  I can only hope that the new children I meet can sing grammar and times tables songs as well as you do!  Keep working hard, keep looking after one another and most importantly, keep shining!

With lots of love,

Mrs MacDonald x
