Year 6 Blog-Friday 29th November
Date: 22nd Oct 2024 @ 1:00pm
Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 6 Friday blog.
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings and times tables and lots more.
Homework
Reading -Thank you to all children who have handed their books in by Thursday. Unfortunately, there are still a few who are not handing their books in on time. Please remind your child to complete their comprehension task and bring it to school by Thursday morning at the latest.
This week they need to complete Set B, test 4.
Spellings -From today (Friday 29th November), we will look at how to spell homophones - words which sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. If children can research the meaning of each word, this will help them to apply the correct spelling. All spelling are listed below. What other homophones can you find? The test for these spellings will on Thursday.

Maths: For homework please see the worksheet on fractions.
I would also like them to memorise prime numbers to 100. Children should also access TTRS throughout the week so that they are achieveing automacity in their tables knowledge.
Our learning this week in Year 6
English
This week we have practised and performed Martin Luther King's famous, 'I have a dream' speech. The children looked at body language, tone, pacing and volume and the other classes loved watching them perform.
Maths
In maths, we have been adding and subtracting fractions. Times table knowledge has been vital to our work this week. Towards the end of the week, we moved onto adding mixed numbers and are now able to convert fractions so that we have matching denominators.
PE
This week, we have continued to developed our sequences in gymnastics. We are lucky to have some gymnastic stars in our class. On Friday we enjoyed some dance in our classroom.
