Grammar lessons
We like to sing our way through most of our grammar lessons. Practise the actions to this song:
Maths
We have used the same number of counters to create different arrays. This has allowed us to investigate factors and factor pairs as well as logical mathematical thinking. Following this, we learnt some divisibility rules which help us with multiples. See if you can work out the following, using divisbility knowledge:
English-Performance poetry & oracy
This week we focused on oracy skills and learnt about the four main areas of oracy (speaking). Using these skills we had several class discussions over 'would you rather' questions. We also performed our poem, The Lion and Albert, to Year 4. To mark National Poetry Day on Thursday, we read the sequel to this poem: Albert's Return.
RE-Life as a journey
This week we learnt about pilgrimage, looking at Lourdes as an example. Using this information, we answered key questions about pilgrimage, including similarities and differences between holidays and pilgrimage.
Science
We continued to look at the function of blood this week. The children retrieved excellent facts, including key vocabularly like nutrients, oxygen, white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
Dates to remember:
Crucial Crew visit: Monday 13th October (letters have been sent; please return reply slips).
Evacuee day: Wednesday 22nd October
Monday 3rd November: Secret War trip at the Museum of Lancashire.
Have a great weekend!
