Year 6 Blog-Friday 9th May
Date: 5th May 2025 @ 6:06pm
Dear Parents,
As a class team, we have been blown away by the maturity and effort of the class, especially since the Easter holidays. However, they have worked hard all year and have great self-awareness of what they have needed to do to improve. And that is all we ask for. We celebrate each child in their own uniqueness and it is our desire to help them shine; whatever this looks like for them. It is our duty to prepare furture citizens who are ambitious, inspirational and resilient and we see 29 examples of this each week. Well done to each and everyone of you and also to the wonderful families who support them so well!
Looking ahead to SATS week: Monday 12th-Thursday 15th May: important notice
During the week of SATS, we warmly welcome the children to arrive at school no earlier than 8.15am (although this is not compulsory). This is so we have a plenty of time to chat with friends and staff, enjoy a snack and settle in, ready to begin our first paper promptly.
Homework
Our learning this week in Year 6
New country spotlight-please bring in facts about Bulgaria for our Europe wall!
English-Comprehension revision
This week we have reviewed lots of our comprehension skills by looking at a variety of different texts.
Maths-revision of key topics
We have continued to used collaborative work to revise key topics and use logical thinking to tackle harder problems.
RE-God revealed through the Holy Trinity
This week we explored how God is revealed through the Holy Trinity. We explored the Celtic cross and the prayer from St Patrick's Breastplate: Christ be beside me. The children have grown greatly in confidence with their philosophical thinking.
PSHE-water safety
As warmer weather approaches, we investigated water safety. This connected with our prior understanding of rivers in Geography and we link it to the resevoirs in our local area.
