Year 6 Friday blog-4.7.25

Dear Parents,
Darwin Rocks!
We are so proud of the children for their fabulous performance in Darwin Rocks! They sang beautifully, whether as part of the chorus, a group or solos. The children committed to learning their lines and stage directions and put an awful lot of time and effort in to giving you a great show. I hope that they will consider continuing this excellent work into high school!
Homework
Our science topic this half term is electricity. Please conduct an electrical survey at home, taking not of mains and battery powered appliances. Discuss at home what life would be like without electricity. There does not need to be a written outcome for this homework (although you are welcome to do so). Please do be prepared to share your findings with the class.
Our learning this week in Year 6
Leavers' service at St George's church
On Monday, we visited St George's church, where we celebrated a Leavers' service alongside 18 other Year 6 classes from across the diocese. We sang songs, prayed and listened to some lovely words of wisdom from Bishop Philip. The children's behaviour was exemplary.
RE
This week we looked at St Paul's letter to the Romans and gained an understanding about what this scripture teaches Christians about how to live their lives faithfully and fully.
Art
Year 6 have been working on their part of the school art project, 'something special.' The outcomes are outstanding and certainly something you would expect to see from a high school class. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate these personal pieces of artwork through our school exhibition.
Geography
We have continued to make complex links between the advantages and disadvantages of mining in Peru. The children have demonstrated an excellent understanding of the formation and location of fold mountains, making great use of key vocbaulary.
