Our learning this week in Year 6
Water Walk
Thank you for all of the generous sponsorship for our water walk. The children have learnt about the importance of water and how it musn't be taken for granted. Thank you to our school council representatives for hosting the event!
New country spotlight-please bring in facts about Bulgaria for our Europe wall!
English
The class have produced two pieces of writing this week. The first was a newspaper report describing the disappearance of the character Cherry, taken from the text 'The Giant's Necklace.' The second piece of writing was a new story, based upon the text, which use the same writing model but was from a different era. The children continue to listen and improve their work and support each other very well through the editing process.
RE
To complete our unit about the nature of God, we have made comparisons to Islam and enhanced our understanding of beliefs about worshipping false idols. We have looked at some beautful artwork and used this as inspiration for our own artwork which depicts God, as we see him.
Science
We have worked through more of our light topic this week, having lots of fun with mirrors to see if we can create a periscope. The children have demonstrated a great understanding of how light travels. After half-term, we will investigate shadows.
Cultural Capital
We were delighted to invite three employees from the huge facilities management comapny, Mitie. Lydia, Sophie and Tom spoke to the class about all of the different job roles with the company.
